More Mexican Children

Here are the last of my chosen pictures from last weeks Mexico trip. I can not believe it has only been a week since these little ones were playing right before my eyes, and all that savory food was titulating my palette. There are so many more images from the week that I could literally post them gradually for the remainder of the month and beyond, but I think I have culled them down to the best. Regardless, no myriad of images could completely portray the beauty and resilience of the Mexican people and their culture. The love of God and the movement of his Spirit through the struggle and kinship of these people remains forever a treasure that I will hold dear to my heart.

Sandwich Saturday

Its Saturday. And it turns out that is has been months, perhaps years since I have had the time to enjoy a proper Saturday. This morning I rose from the comfort of my bed no earlier that eleven thirty AM. Enjoyed the richness of a morning French press before the Lord's angels descended upon me with the great and glorious gift of sandwich. From ingredients I found in my house I pieced together this magnificent afternoon meal. Grilled garlic chicken, Roma tomatoes and avocados with chipotle lime aioli on a baguette.

Mexican Children

While in Mexico this past week, I didn't just eat a bunch of food. I also ate a bunch of Mexican children. No, not really, we spent much of our time playing with the kids at a comedor, that is a place where they provide meals for the children on Saturdays. We lead a Vacation Bible School for the children in the mornings and worked at a construction site in the afternoon building a home for a local pastor who suffers from Parkinson's disease. It was a week filled to the brim with spiritual growth and exercise, one that I will always hold dear.

Mexican Sea Food!

So the thing about a week eating food in Ensanada is that it can be dangerous. I don't mean that the people or that places are dangerous at all, I felt safe the entire time during my trip, with the exception of every time I walked by a mariscos cart on the streets. A mariscos [I'm bad at Spanish, and even worse at Spanish spelling so correct me if you can] cart is a street cart, much like a hot dog cart or a corn cart. However at a mariscos cart they sell mariscos. Which is fresh seafood. Mostly shell fish and ceviche. If you know me well you know that I have a weakness for seafood. If you know me well you know that I have a weakness for raw seafood. Naturally walking past a cart on the streets where I can get an oyster for a dollar... well you get the point. In Mexico I lived by the following rule. If you can see the ocean, its ok. Each of these shellfish were shucked and cleaned right before my eyes. They were all delicious.

Mexican Food

Sopes, pork rib tacos on fresh flour tortillas, spit fired pork tacos on fresh corn tortillas, chile quilles (or however you spell this Mexican delight), and varying Mexican condiments. These are the hot foods that I ate while I traveled through Ensanada on my belly last week. Not really, I went with the youth group that I volunteer with, and we played with Mexican Children and build a significant portion of a magnificent pastor's home. Pictures of the children to come... but food first.

Too much pictures for photo info.

Shoot at the Lab

Teri and I went to the Lab in Costa Mesa the other day and had ourselves a little photo shoot. Boy was it fun. Teri is one of my dearest friends and an excellent model. This was my first time working with a professional, and I must say I do care for it. The shots turned out great, and I learned quite a bit. I look forward to many more photo fun times with Tim and Teri!
