V-Mex 2.0 (Vietnamese Mexican)

I am Vietnamese. I love Mexico. I love food. These three facts combined lead to a natural love for Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine. Tacos, mariscos, chile rellenos, bun thit noung, com tam: the foods I love from either of these genre are too many to number. About a month ago I combined the two, and today I have the evidence. Vietnamese rice noodles, topped with Vietnamese herbs, carnitas, smothered in fish sauce and finished with a chili from my back yard. V-Mex. Vietnamese Mexican. The natural evolution of foods as the result of overlapping ethnic and cultural enclaves. God bless America.

Food from trucks

Food trucks are a wonderful phenomenon. I can go to a gathering in a parking lot in the middle of the week and within a stones throw I can find a veritable cornucopia of foodstuffs. This week at the food trucks there was a bounty of delicious things to eat. Above you see the blue crab ceviche from Lime Truck (with an ample helping of their Death Sauce) and to the left you see a fried chicken slider from Burnt. These foods were delicious.

Food Trucks!

Food trucks: what a wonderful development in the culinary landscape. I have been frequenting a gathering of said moving Epicurean delight, and this week I saw it fit to capture an image or two. Above you see a creation from Chomp Chomp Truck, a combination of their take on hot dogs and their take on tater tots. Tater tots smothered in braised beef, magical sauce, a split hot dog, cheese, green onions, and some other Singapore street food inspired dirtiness. It was good. Below that you see Chomp Chomp's Crab Cake Sandwich. Below you see Bacon Mania's Bacon Ball Trio... Peanut Butter and Jelly, Carne Asada, and Mac 'n Cheese bacon balls. mmm.

Pretzels

In my culinary adventures I have discovered many things. At the same time, there are a few things that I have always known. Hot dogs, and bacon for examples. Every human being that breaths free air should know the joy of bacon and hot dogs. Combining these old loves with my new penchant for pretzels making was the next natural thing. Bacon Warped Pretzel Dogs..

Happy Easter

He is risen. On this day we remember the resurrection of Christ, his victory over death, and the forgivness of sins. What better way to remember this than by making and eating dark chocolate marbled peppermint marshmallows!
